'SHAKTI SMARAN DIWAS' commemorated at BGMS school
Mitra Foundation recently commemorated 'Shakti Smaran Diwas' at BGMS School, a unique institution that not only provides residential education to students but also extends care and shelter to needy women and senior citizens through its old age home for women.
A Heartwarming Beginning
The day began with a simple yet meaningful gesture — Breakfast shared by children, senior citizens, and volunteers. Before the meal, students chanted a prayer expressing gratitude for the food. It was a beautiful sight to witness the children standing in disciplined queues, patiently waiting for their turn, taking only what they needed, and finishing every morsel without wasting food. Their sense of responsibility and gratitude was truly inspiring.
Guiding Young Minds
One of the key highlights of the day was a counselling session conducted by volunteers for Class 9 students. The session focused on academic pathways after Grade 10, career opportunities, and preparation strategies for higher education. Students actively participated, asked thoughtful questions, and gained clarity about their future choices. The interaction aimed to empower them with confidence and direction as they prepare for the next important phase of their lives.
Joyful Activities and Games
While the counselling session was underway, children from Classes 1 to 8 enthusiastically participated in parallel games and activities. Our volunteers kept the children occupied in various mind games that stimulated thinking to energetic running games that filled the grounds with laughter. The children embraced every activity with excitement and team spirit.
A Tribute in Memory
The event was a fitting tribute to Shakti Rath, in whose memory Mitra Foundation was established. The day was not just about remembrance but also about the values of compassion, service, and empowerment.
Mitra Foundation feels privileged to have shared this solemn yet uplifting day with the children and residents of BGMS School. It was a celebration of togetherness, gratitude, learning, and joy — a reminder that meaningful change begins with small acts of kindness.
