Counselling Session -25/01/26

On the 25th of January, 2025, a counselling session was conducted in the premises of Karunashraya.

This was an annual educational counselling session, aimed at helping the beneficiary children choose a suitable career path. The goal of the session was to introduce the children to the various skill based diploma and graduate courses that would help them find employment and become self-sufficient young individuals.

The session started off with brief introductions of the children, where they spoke about their current academic status and future aspirations. Children of various age groups were present, ranging from seventh grade to PU students in various streams.

The session was then taken over by Mrs Anita, principal of government women's polytechnic college. Mrs Anita shed light on various diploma and polytechnic courses that emphasized on practical skills rather than just theoretical knowledge. Not only did she speak about paths to choose after passing 10th and 12th, she also laid down various options the students can opt for if they happen to not clear their exams. Her words planted confidence and strength in the young and ambitious minds of the children. We are grateful to be able to receive such valuable knowledge and support.

Some of the past beneficiaries of Mitra Foundation who are now independent individuals were also present in the session. They interacted with the children, sharing with them not only their experiences, but also positive and inspiring words.

This was followed by a small break, after which two separate counselling sessions were conducted simultaneously, one for commerce students and another for science students. Our younger volunteers encouraged the beneficiaries to look beyond just engineering and medicine, offering them various alternatives which are just as fulfilling. The beneficiaries were briefed about allied sciences, physiotherapy, pharmacy, among other professions. Volunteers also spoke about affordable colleges that offered these courses.

After the counselling session, group photos were taken and the volunteers took a lunch break. Subsequently, a volunteer meeting was conducted where the status of beneficiary families were discussed, with updates of both old families and some newer beneficiary families.

The session ended on a positive note and the volunteers returned home with a conviction to make Jeevan Shakti initiative stronger.z
