Mitra Foundation Trust
Mitra Foundation was born in Nov 2013, out of an unexpected tragic event that brought together a group of friends grieving the passing away of their young neighbour and friend to cancer. Wanting to commemorate his death, the founders started the Jeevanshakti initiative to help families of terminally ill/deceased cancer patients, helping the beneficiary families to build the ‘strength to live’. Mitra Foundation was founded and registered as a trust with a broad charter, and provision to have multiple targeted projects under it, with Jeevanshakti as the first initiative that was flagged off.
The primary goal of Mitra foundation trust is to: Facilitate the setting up of multiple charitable initiatives; each with a definite purpose, driven by a set of passionate individuals working with their independent focus objectives, with overlap in the areas of activities covered like educational support, vocational training, livelihood support, medical assistance, health & hygiene, environment, etc.
Mitra foundation currently has the following three initiatives:
Jeevan Shakti: This initiative is set up to work with families of patients who are terminally ill (or deceased) specifically with cancer. Especially, if the patient is the breadwinner of the family. These families usually require support for their kids’ education, sustenance in the initial days of the breadwinner passing away, enabling the families to be able to get back to a regular livelihood support.
LBS Jana Sahayog: This is the second initiative under Mitra Foundation started to encourage and provide a channel for the different residents of LBS Nagar and surrounding area to share their well being with others in the area who are in need of it. This Fund is focussed on areas of education, healthcare and other empowerment initiatives.
The primary goal is to:
