Vidya Nivesh Scholarship

The Jeevan Shakti Fund was started to support the families of terminally ill cancer patients. The aim was to provide initial basic sustenance, help adult family members to become employable and/or find employment and support children to complete high school level education. Over the years we have seen many families able to self-support themselves and growing out of the need for any financial support. At the same time, we have seen that many children seeking financial support to go for graduate level professional education.

In it's 10th year of operation, Mitra Foundation was able to achieve it's long term goal of supporting beneficiary children beyond Class XII or diploma. In July 2023, the Vidyanivesh Scholarship Fund was started. This fund is aimed at awarding yearly scholarships for select students based on eligibility criteria and fund availability during each year. The scholarship amount and eligible students will be decided each year at the start of the academic year. With this new initiative we hope to keep a few dreams alive and open doors of a brighter future for the children of "Jeevanshakti Fund" beneficiary families. The name "Vidyanivesh" emphasizes the point that this investment in children will become a source of lighting up many more dreams in the times to come.
 
Additionally, to find the Vidyanivesh scholarship, a "Vidyanivesh Scholarship Fund corpus" was setup in July 2024 with the goal of funding the Vidyanivesh Scholarships through the interest earned from this corpus. All donations earmarked towards the Vidyanivesh Scholarship Fund Corpus will be invested in Fixed Deposits or RBI Bonds. Returns accrued from the investments will be utilized for funding the undergraduate education of meritorious children of Mitra Foundation beneficiaries.
